Q?

Florist or floral designer?

A.

At Flowers by GiMi we can not only make your arrangements, but also help you design the look of your events, reception tables and ceremony aisle or special floral decor or gifts. If you are looking for inspiration let our floral designers create a vision or something one of a kind for your wedding.

Q?

How do I choose the color of my flowers?

A.

You won’t know what flowers to pick if you don’t know what colors will work. First decide what your bridesmaids, groomsmen, and moms are wearing; then choose your ideal color palette.

Q?

How do I clearly communicate my vision or what flowers I have in mind for my wedding?

A.

Images are a great way to clearly communicate your vision or what flowers you have in mind for event or wedding. Bring along your inspiration boards, a bridesmaid dress fabric swatch and a photograph of your wedding gown. This will cue our florist in on the look you're after from the start. Keep in mind, we will totally appreciate snapshots that reflect your style, but don't expect exact replicas of what lives on your inspiration board.

Q?

When should I book an appointment?

A.

You should book an appointment as soon as you possible to discuss budget, dates and availability to avoid disappointment. For example flowers like ‘red’ roses are in high demand around Valentine's Day and may impact your wedding if you are planning for example a Valentine’s Day wedding. Most flower orders are placed at least six to eight weeks ahead of your event or wedding date.

The GiMi Design Studio is *by appointment only and is located at 1 North Court Avenue, Pembroke, HM 04, Bermuda.
The studio can be reached at 441-295-6563 or by fax 441-295-5234.

Q?

How much should I budget for flowers?

A.

Decide what portion of the total wedding cost will go towards flowers and décor; from the bouquets, boutonnieres, flowers for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception locations. At your first meeting, put your budget on the table. Ask, "What great things can you do with $__________?"

If you love flowers and want a grand installation, or are dead-set on flowers out of season, plan to spend more on flowers and less elsewhere.

Q?

What size flowers should I consider for my bouquet?

A.

If you're petite, don't let your flowers overwhelm you.

Wearing a ball gown? Make sure your flowers can stand up to the ruffled skirt of your dress. And no matter your fashion choice, be sure your bouquet isn't too heavy or too fragrant; you don't want to sneeze your way down the aisle.

Fragrant blooms, like lilacs, freesias, lilies, gardenias, tuberoses and jasmine vine, are best used in moderation.
